Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner’s official cause of death has been announced.
The Spinal cords The director and his wife died of “multiple blunt force injuries,” according to a statement released by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner on Wednesday, December 17.
The news came hours after the couple’s son, Nick Reiner, made his first appearance in Los Angeles County Court since his parents’ death.
Nick’s attorney, Alan Jackson, told reporters outside court that his case has been postponed until January 7, 2026.
“First and foremost, this is a terrible tragedy for the Reiner family. We all recognize that. Our hearts go out to the entire Reiner family,” Alan said.
Speaking further, the lawyer told reporters that there are “very difficult and serious issues” related to this case, adding, “These need to be approached well, but carefully approached and examined and looked at and analyzed.”
“We ask that during this process, you agree that this process should proceed in the way it is intended to proceed, not to rush to judgement, not to jump to conclusions, but in a limited and dignified manner and with the respect that this system deserves and that the family deserves,” added the lawyer, as he said. For the uninitiated, Rob and Michele were found dead in their Brentwood home in Los Angeles on December 14th.
Later that evening, police arrested the couple’s son, Nick, on suspicion of murdering his parents.
