Perry Farrell has apologized for his on-stage altercation with his Jane Addiction co-star Dave Navarro.
The 66-year-old singer and other musicians – including drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery – have released statements about a controversial night in Boston in September 2024 when Farrell started a fight with Navarro during a concert.
Their reunion tour has come to an end, with the ex’s friends filing a $10 million lawsuit against him for “assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, and breach of contract.”
He denied “any allegations” at the time, and both sides have now spoken publicly about the situation in new statements.
Farrell wrote: “To everyone in Boston, and all over the world. I’d like to address what happened on stage last year.”
He went on to say, “I’ve thought about it, and I know I didn’t handle myself the way I should have.”
“Jane’s style has been at the center of my life for decades. The band, the songs, the customers and the impact we have had on music and culture mean more to me than any words I could ever write,” he added.
“My goal has always been to give our audience the best show possible, something real, honest and positive. In Boston, we fell short of that, and I’m really sorry for everyone who was affected,” Farrell said.
“From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank each and every one of you for your continued love and support. Perry Farrell,” he signed off.
The group shared their statement “to clarify the events surrounding the travel cancellation.”
They said: “After that appearance, without notice to Perry, we decided separately that it would be best not to continue the tour and made inaccurate statements about Perry’s mental health that we regret.”
“Today we are here to announce that we have come together one last time to resolve our differences, so that the legacy of Jane’s addiction will be the work of the four of us that we created together,” they said.
Before ending the band said, “Now we look forward to the future as we pursue our own musical and creative endeavors. Jane’s Addiction will live forever in our hearts. We are proud of the music we created together.”
“You, the fans, are our lifeblood and we are forever grateful,” Jane’s Addiction signed off.
