Lily Gladstone reflects on inspiration behind latest project

The film, which took seven years to complete, has Gladstone not only as the sheikh but also as an executive producer.

“It’s hard to pinpoint the exact moment,” Gladstone shared when asked when she first became aware of the importance of animals.

She explained that identity is not something you are taught to live by.

“Because it’s one of those things that’s just picked up, full knowledge and awareness at the core. They’re like the heartbeat of who you are as a person.”

After years of advocacy and cultural education, a historic date finally came in 2023 when 49 Buffaloes were released at the base of the mountain, serving as a symbol of respect for A black nation near Glacier National Glacier Montana.

That powerful connection is captured in the documentary film and represents one of Gladstone’s most famous moments on film.

“It’s a beautiful sight to see in this case only up close, how the shells go exactly where they fall when they hit the ground,” she said.

She added that the moment she heard a widely shared belief against black communities, “If you can see Sodistako – if you can see the mountain head – then you are home.”

In a major revelation of the event, Gladstone admitted that she had never witnessed such a return in her entire life.

“I never thought I’d see anything like this… I thought I’d be an old woman before anything like this was possible.”
