Harrison Ford, an actor known for his long and successful career, is set to receive the highest honor from SAG-AFTRA, the actors’ union.
It is the Lifetime Achievement Award, which will be given to him during the 32nd Annual Actors Awards on March 1.
“I am honored to be selected as this year’s recipient of the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award,” Battle Stars the actor is reacting to the honor.
“Acknowledging my fellow actors means a lot to me. I’ve spent most of my life making movies, working alongside amazing actors and crew, and I’ve always felt grateful to be a part of this community,” he noted.
On the other hand, the President of SAG-AFTRA Sean Astin, released a statement praising the actor, saying, “Harrison Ford is a singular presence in American life; an actor whose famous characters have shaped world culture.”
“His career has been very interesting. He always comes back to his love of acting. We are honored to celebrate a legend whose influence is on the craft.”
During his career, which spanned more than six decades, he appeared in several blockbusters, including Battle Stars and Indiana Jones, and critically acclaimed films such as Escaping, First Air Force, and What’s Underneath.
He also counts various awards among his accolades, including an Academy Award nomination for his performance in Witness.
Prior to Harrison, recipients of the award included A-listers such as Mary Tyler Moore, Sidney Poitier, Betty White, Jane Fonda, Robert De Niro, Elizabeth Taylor and James Earl Jones.
