Rob Reiner’s son Nick Reiner may receive the death penalty if convicted of his parents’ murder.
During a recent press conference Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said Nick is expected to face two counts of first degree murder, citing certain circumstances, along with allegations that a knife was used in the murder of Rob and his wife Michele Singer Reiner.
It is important to mention that Rob and Michele were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday, December 14.
According to the prosecutor, the maximum punishment includes the possibility of life in prison without parole or even the death penalty.
However, “at this time no decision has been made on the death penalty,” said Hochman, while the will of his family will also be considered by the office.
Since Nick has yet to appear in court, the lawyer noted that the court proceedings will begin once the doctors determine that he is medically stable.
The daughter of Rob and Michele Romy was first found by her parents, and the Los Angeles Fire Department said it responded to a call for help around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
Later that day, Nick was arrested around 9 p.m. and is being held without bail at the Los Angeles Men’s Central Jail.
The source revealed People that Rob and Nick had a heated argument the night before their deaths at a party hosted by Conan O’Brien.
“Nick was shaking everyone, going crazy, asking people if they were famous,” he told the insider.
