Hero Fiennes Tiffin reflects on ‘daunting’ ‘Young Sherlock’ role

Hero Fiennes Tiffin found it “difficult” to take on the role of young Sherlock Holmes.

“Depressed is a good word – there’s definitely a bit of that,” the After the star said Entertainment Weekly. “I mean, there’s still some of that, because it’s not out yet.”

At the same time, this is a dream role Harry Potter star, who has always been a fan of the beloved sleuth.

“I’ve always been a fan of Sherlock, my dad saying, ‘No s—, Sherlock,’ every time I say something obvious, in all the Guy movies,” he said.

“We’re crazy about Guy’s character and work. I feel like I’m super early because this is what my dreams were made of,” he added.

After he entered Harry Potter As a younger version of Voldemort, played by his uncle Ralph Fiennes, Hero again acts with an uncle; this time it’s his other uncle, Joseph Fiennes.

Hero believes that casting his uncle as his father Silas Holmes was a deliberate decision on the part of showrunner Matthew Parkhill.

“I don’t know if I believe Matthew when he said this, but when they were looking to cast the role of Silas Holmes, I think they came up with Joe, Matthew said a little later, “Yes, that’s Hero’s uncle. I forgot,” he shared.

He added, “And I call it bull — that, I’m sorry. But anyway, it felt really organic. And when he said, ‘Would you like that? How would you feel about that?’ I said, ‘I wouldn’t like anything else’.”

Young Sherlock Hero Fiennes Tiffin will debut on Prime Video in March 2026.
