Nick Reiner was not at his parents’ Brentwood home when their bodies were found and he was found hours later several miles away.
Authorities said the 32-year-old son of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Reiner, left the family home after the murder and was later located near the University of Southern California.
ABC News said police found Nick in the Exposition Park area, near the USC campus, about six hours after the bodies were found.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that Nick was arrested in the Exposition Park area near USC around 9:15 pm on Sunday. People said.
Rob and Michele Reiner were found dead inside their Brentwood home around 3:40 p.m. that same day, police said.
Nick was arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently being held without bail at the Twin Towers Detention Center in Los Angeles.
A source said People that Nick is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
Sources previously told the magazine that the night before the murder, Nick also attended Conan O’Brien’s holiday party with his parents, where he reportedly had a heated argument with his father.
One of the participants described Nick as behaving erratically during the episode.
Rob and Michele Reiner, who married in 1989, have three children together, including Jake, Nick, and Romy.
Nick has spoken publicly about his long struggle with addiction, telling a newspaper in 2016 that he entered rehab as a teenager and later faced homelessness as his drug use worsened.
