Oscar Isaac says that playing Victor Frankenstein in Guillermo del Toro’s film was more challenging for him than anyone else.
The 46-year-old actor recently admitted Various in an interview, saying the role provided a rare sense of freedom
“There was something about playing an innocent person, regardless of the moral judgment, that it’s this critical energy that’s really fun and fun to play.
Isaac talked about how he stayed with the actor even after the filming was over. “I had a hard time when I got into another project Frankenstein. It wasn’t until I brought Victor back to talk a little, that I realized… Victor was still there, angry that he was in this sad little man,” he said.
Isaac also said that he did some special practices when he was shot. “I get up in the morning and do a little ritual to prepare my nervous system, to thank the ancestors and start from an open place.”
“So at the end of the day, even more importantly, I do a little ritual to say, ‘Thank you, body. Thank you for being open, and now you can let go.’ I have kids and things to do, so I don’t need your help anymore, he said.
His costar, Mia Goth, who plays Elizabeth Lavenza, also admitted that she felt nervous about joining the project. “I was so afraid that I would be the bad thing in it, that I would destroy it,” she said.
