Kate Weellet is opening up about her children’s happiness.
The 50-year-old actress talked about her new and old projects at the screening of West Bridge in June in NYC on Monday, and talked about working with her daughter Mia, and son Joe Anders.
“I think I honestly learned from my children that they are, they are just these good people,” Winset, who shares Mia and Joe with her ex-husband Sam Mendes, told people. “They’re great people. They’re great. In fact, none of them really knew that at all.”
“They’re getting too small,” she says of her children. “They love the work, they love the work, and they know they’re really lucky to have worked with extraordinary people and learned a lot.”
“Because they grew up listening to me learn and retrieving stories of something cool that happened on set or something that helped someone,” the Titanic star said.
“So I feel like I’m excited for them, really, for what’s coming because they can handle it,” she tells PEOPLE.
Speaking about further work on Joe Goodbye June in NYC, the expert added:
“When it came down to the point of being ready for the screen, I would come out as the character of Julia, who suddenly did not continue to host Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live last month.
She added that, and I said, I would like to guide her, because when you bring a director, she becomes the right one. But I didn’t want that.
I wanted to be a part of it. I wanted him to experience seeing this beautiful thing he created come to life, she said. “And he looks so smart on film, and being there with me every day has been fantastic.”
