Prince Harry has been warned of “consequences” in his £38million secret lawsuit against Daily Mail.
Harry has been fighting a group of related newspapers since 2022 and accused them of using illegal methods to gather information for their articles.
The duke of sussex is one of seven royal figures who have taken to the court newspaper group. Others include Sir Elton John, camie belly actor and more.
As the case is about to go to trial in January, Harry and the other judges warn the judge of the substantial costs they will have to pay if they lose the case.
Judges David Cook and Justice Nicklin said that the estimated £38.8 million in costs in the case was “clearly out of the range of reasonable expectations”.
She added: “It is essential that the parties and especially the claims of individuals have the clearest understanding of the consequences of the lawsuit that will soon be held with a lot of costs in the trial next year.”
This comes as Harry has been asked for his security to be updated in the UK. After losing the legal battle against the Bureau, Harry wrote directly to the Secretary, Shabana Mahmon, and asked for a full risk assessment.
