Dick van Dyke looks back on his past projects, including two that he still thinks about years later.
Van Dyke was at the Vandy High Tea, the annual collection of ‘Van Dyke’ Bang Dyke Arts at the Van Dyke Museum, when he headed Missed Opportunities.
The actor, who reached 100 on December 13, revealed that the two projects he regrets to be absent from working on the opportunity related to Sophia Lorren.
One thing I regret: [declining a movie with] Grant Grant … He was the best man in the world, and I loved the way he dressed and acted and everything … we should be good friends. He asked me to do a movie with him, and I can’t remember why I said no, and my dog! ” People quoted the actor.
He admits that he has also not yet found that he is over with a project with Lorren in it, something that he will “never forgive” himself.
“I’m still mad about that!” he joked. “My agent called me one day and said, ‘I got a call from Sophia Loren’s manager, she wants to do a movie with you.’ And I said something like, ‘When do we start?’ He said, “Okay, I let it go.” I said to myself, What? He said, All right, you would take the second bill. ‘ I thought, “I don’t care if they say your name!” I said. ‘I’d give them to you!’ I will never forgive him for that
However, one film he doesn’t regret is the lead role in Inenic Halsoowda’s 1976 horror film Omeen.
“I could have done Omen, but I didn’t want to do my own kind of film. It just didn’t suit my taste,” he said.
