Legend Steve Cropper dies at age 84

Steve Cropper, Book T. & MG’s lead guitarist breathed his last.

In a statement released on social media, a representative of the Cropper family announced that the musician died “peacefully” at the age of 84 but the cause of death was not disclosed.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Stephen Lee Cropper, who passed away peacefully in Nashville today at the age of 84,” they began.

The obituary continued, “Steve was a legendary poet, singer, and producer whose extraordinary talent touched millions of lives around the world.”

“While we mourn the loss of a husband, father, and friend, we find comfort in the fact that Steve will be happy, every song he lives, he concluded.

Born in Mistouri and raised in Memphis, the cropper started learning guitar at the age of 14 and became a founding member of the string house band, along with the MGs.

He played on many recordings, including 1967’s The soul of Sam & Dave and the 1968’s (Sittin’ on) the holewhich he co-wrote with myself in Otis’s late song.

In addition, Cropper wrote Hit the guns With Eddie Floyd and the middle line with Wilson Behett.

After he released his first work after receiving the help of my friends, in 1969, when he was two years old at the TMI Ploud award, where he worked with stars such as John Prinet, Rod Sterat, and John Lennon.

Steve Croobper was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 as a member of T. & MG’s and was honored in the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005.
