Last August, an ad showed a fando-like art of cash in red blush. Now, the late music estate is suing Coca-Cola for performing without permission.
According to the ELVIS Act, the complaint was filed in Nashville, accusing the company of “Pirating Johnny’s Money Justice in a nationwide advertising campaign to promote – without compensation.”
It continues, “Stealing the voice of an artist is theft. It is theft of integrity, identity, and humanity.”
“The organization brings this lawsuit to protect the voice of Johnny Cash – and to send a message that protects the voice of all musical artists and that music enriches our lives.”
In the lawsuit, there is also a reference to the 1988 ruling, Central v.
In addition, the estate asked the court to prevent Coca-Cola, which still has no say in the matter, from running the ad.
It is worth noting that fine bark was the song featured in the advertisement set for Johnny, who died in 2003.
